The Netflix series ‘Lost In Space’ was released in May last year and it has had its part of buzz in the industry. A science fiction like none other, it’s simply breathtaking!
Humankind’s project- mostly scientists to be specific- of leaving Earth with the purpose of making a colony on a new planet (Alpha Centauri) gets crashed midway on an unknown planet with hostile environmental fluctuations. Was that not enough? No.
There are Robots, an alien Robot Spacecraft and revelations about probable theft of Robot technology by humans and whatnot. The phrase “imagination” knows no bounds is known to all, but this show is clearly an example of it.
Yes, there were definitely many pointless and vague moves made by the characters which made the episodes unnecessarily prolonged. However, with a little bit of romance, a bit of drama, a whole lot of suspense and the unique adventures of the Robinson family, it is a perfect Sci-Fi family show.
All the characters are well written and really well performed. Lost in Space certainly has big names associated to it like Molly Parker (Maureen Robinson) , Toby Stephens (John Robinson) and many more. The first episode itself sets the plot of the story straight with the the Robot bonding with the Robinson kid Will and drawing a picture which he describes as ‘Danger’ to him.
Later, after fighting against all odds, when it seems that the Robinsons were finally safe and will be reunited with their fellow colonists on The Resolute, the gang were mysteriously zapped away towards an unknown destination which Will Robinson deciphers as Danger from the Robot’s Drawing. It seems that there problems are not yet over! Jupiter 2 is now on its own, away from the resolute and has literally “lost in space”!
Season one certainly ends on an epic cliffhanger leaving the viewers with many unanswered questions. Are they going towards ‘The Planet of Robots’? Will the other colonists continue on this journey or try to reconnect with the Robinsons on their Jupiter? Well, all these questions will form the basis of season two, which I really hope comes soon.
And for all of those, who haven’t seen the first season yet, please do so. It’s a must watch, especially for those who love adventures and mysteries!
